On stage is an original dramaturgy by Antonio Piccolo, who also signs the production's direction, with a cast featuring soprano Marie Lys, actors from the Compagnia Teatro in Fabula, and the Talenti Vulcanici directed by Stefano Demicheli.
"During the 18th century, the capital of southern Italy welcomed a large number of 'foreign' composers," points out musicologist Paologiovanni Maione, "who came here to perfect their 'craft' but above all to learn the secrets of a superfine art that had enslaved the whole of Europe. Artists, such as Johann Adolf Hasse, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Johann Christian Bach, Josef Mysliveček, Joseph Schuster, Vicente Martín y Soler among many others, landed in the capital in search of a 'Neapolitan' identity capable of guaranteeing access to the great international musical centres.
It is precisely selected works by these composers that make up the programme of Antonio Piccolo's performance in music, intended to show the 'many' voices that fuelled the city's cultural and musical scene at the time.

Speaking Baroque Flute, a panel conversation on articulation

Speaking Baroque Flute, a panel conversation on articulation Online

The Traverso Practice Net Italy
Francesco, Via Pomponia Grecina 10, Rome
The subject of articulation is without doubt one of the most distinctive features in baroque flute playing. Just like a verbal language, the ability to speak through the instrument and through the music is the key for an expressive musical performance. In this ZOOM session, baroque flute specialists Lisete Bull, Enrico Coden, and Teddie Hwang will touch on different aspects of this multi-faceted subject, from understanding Hotteterre and the meaning of articulation to how to approach tonguing in difficult keys. As you will see, there is a whole universe about articulation and we hope you'll walk away with much inspiration and curiosity after the session!
