Atelier Martine Argelliès France
Harpsichord workshop Martine Argelliès, 11, bis rue des Soldats, Montpellier
Martine Argellies has been making harpsichords since 1981. Her workshop, located in Montpellier, is one of the last specialized harpsichord makers in France.

Her interest in the baroque musical repertoire, of which the harpsichord, without pedals and with plucked strings, is one of the emblems, as well as her attraction to craftsmanship have guided her professional choices. When she left her teens, she joined a friend who owned a piano shop. Then she was taught by a cabinetmaker, before training on her own for a decade. With the two people who now surround her, she makes a dozen instruments a year, a quarter of which are destined for export.
