Ancient Sounds of the New World Online

Germany
The duo "El Parnaso Hispano" is dedicated to the musical traditions of the New World. After the conquest of the continent by the Spaniards, a fascinating mixture of pre-Hispanic and European musical styles was created, enriched with rhythms and melodies of the African slaves. But also in the oral tradition, old songs and dance melodies have survived the centuries. In this concerts these sounds from the New World are contrasted with works from the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque periods.
